It was late August when we arrived in Alaska with our hearts set on a lucky chance to encounter some of North Americas more impressive mammals. The locations of the exploration would be Denali National Park and outskirts of Anchorage. The weather forecast never looked favorable but we couldn't allow that to halt our drive and determination to pursue our main objective of finding dall sheep, caribou and moose. After miles of hiking everyday in all types of terrain and weather conditions, we would enter our tents with sore feet and wet clothes from either rain, the soggy grounds, perspiration or all of the above. While inside our tent each night the silence almost seemed deafening until a seldom lone creature of unknown size could be heard putting its nose to good use. Waking up after a few solid hours of sleep, we felt rejuvenated and ready to go. Donning our gaiters, grabbing our gear, a quick munch and we were off with trekking poles in hand. The backs of our mind would be preoccupied with the hopeful vision of success as we set off into wild.
